Is duine gealgháireach, teanntásach í Jenny Mulvey. Tá sí fostaithe faoi láthair ag Muintearas, togra atá plé ag le pobail Ghaeltachta maidir le oiliúint, oideachas agus forbairt pobail. Chaith sí seal sna tíortha teolaí thíos fúinn san Domhan Thoir agus is maith léi ceol. Is fearr léi áfach, amhráin agus amhránaíocht idir sean- nóis, nua- nóis agus aon nós. Tá spéis ar leith aici i dtraidisiúin/ nósanna, seanda nó pobail éagsúla i dtíortha ar fud na cruinne. I s uaidh sin a eascraíonn an grá atá aici don amhránaíocht bun- dúchasach na ndaoine. Is, cuma cen cén ceann as a dtagann sé. Mar cheilteach, tá spéis ar leith ina croí don dtraidisiúin ceilteach amhránaíochta cheltigh agus an éagsúlacht chuimsitheach a bhaineann leis. Seo an chéad iarracht uaithi i bhfoirm dlúth-dhiosca. Seasaigí ar leathtaobh, a réalta ban na n-’amhráin thraidisiúnta: tá bean eile tagtha i bhfur measc.

Jenny Mulvey is a singer but as for all singers is much more. She has lobbed Ladies’ Gaelic Football into the hallowed grounds of Trinity College. She has taught in Aranmore, Maningrida and Tallaght and she has learned an awful lot. She has travelled the world and has made friends wherever she went. She now works in Conamara.

It bein’ in September, I’ll ever remember,
I went out to walk by a clear riverside
For sweet recreation, and to my vexation
This wonder of nature I quickly espied.
I stood for to view her an hour I’m sure.
The earth couldn’t show such a damsel, I know,
As that little girl, the pride of the world,
Sweet nice little Jenny from Ballinrobe.

As a singer, Jenny has mastered classical, ecclesiastical, pop, country, punk and almost everything in between, but most of all it is traditional music that she has really made her own. She has been singing since the day she was born, almost, but now she is finally letting her voice be heard by a much larger audience then ever before. And she’ll sing for Ireland, so she will. In fact, she’ll sing for Everybody. And Everybody will be privileged.

I am not ambitious nor e’er efficacious.
I’m never inclined to disdain nor to tease.
I like conversation, likewise recreation,
I’m free with a friend and I’m cold with a foe.
And virtue’s my glory, will be ‘til I’m hoary,
Said nice little Jenny from Ballinrobe.
